Performing Arts Conservatory Education

Performing Arts Consevatory Education (PACE) is a new summer intensive being
offered by 24-VII Danceforce. This 8-week program is designed for individuals considering a career in professional theatre. The program offers "triple threat" training in -- 

• Musical Theatre (acting)
• Music/Voice (singing)
• Dance

Musical Theatre

Student will be introduced to a practical, step-by-step method of developing the essential skills needed in the integration of acting and singing techniques. Course work will include lyric dissection, music dissection, subtext and personalization of each song. In addition to course work, the musical theatre portion will focus on audition techniques and performance application as well. 

Music/Voice

The student will learn to develop a healthy voice through consistent vocal habits. Careful attention is given to breath management, establishing vocal range, releasing tension, focus, placement, diction, clear tone, and correct posture. Exercises will help build natural and career-sustaning vocal technique.

Dance

Students will explore different styles of dance including ballet, jazz, tap and basic partnering. There will be a focus on mind-body awareness and coordination, warm-up, and flexibility. This will better accustom each student to their own individual physicality and promote confident movement upon the stage.

Referred to as "24-7 PACE", the program is a conservatory style musical theatre education course which gives each student individual focus on how to master a song, performance, and an audition. The goal is to show individual growth of each student in order to propel them into a professional musical theatre career. The 24-7 PACE program differs from other musical theatre activities currently offered on the island. When you perform in a show, in the end you take away the memories. When you participate in the 24-7 PACE program you will take away the TOOLS of the trade to obtain the job, show, or goal you desire.

A culminating performance will be comprised of individual and group performance pieces. It will be an opportunity for the student to apply newly acquired techniques and to share their growth with friends and family. More importantly, the student will leave this experience with a Musical Theatre Audition Portfolio. This portfolio can be useful on future auditions and ultimately lead to a successful career.

No experience is necessary, but a passion and excitement to learn is required.
